NFC Business Cards: Move with the Times

What exactly is NFC?

Near Field Communication, or NFC in English, is an acronym for near-field communication. This is a reference to the global data transmission standard for wireless communication. The range is limited, about 10 to 20 centimeters, unlike Bluetooth or RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification). Based on RFID technology, electromagnetic induction is used for the contactless data exchange.

An antenna that has been spirally wound up on an NFC tag is a tiny memory chip. Its size is comparable to a euro piece. It is available for purchase in many forms, such as stickers, and has a storage capacity of 168 to 2048 bytes. The NFC tag can be customized to meet your demands with the help of an app.

Two variations exist:

After being scanned, the contact information is stored in the code so that it may be added instantly to the smartphone’s address book.

The code opens a virtual business card. You can use the contact information immediately from this page to, for instance, call the person with a single click or add the information to your smartphone’s address book.

What types of devices does NFC support?

In the meantime, the majority of smartphones, tablets, speakers, and wearables support NFC. NFC may be quickly enabled on Android devices by going to “Setting > Wireless & Networks > More…” The most recent technology already supports NFC. A back-mounted NFC chip makes it simple to upgrade older smartphones. As of June 2019, Apple has also supported NFC, making 95% of devices on the market NFC-capable.

NFC business cards: useful and environmentally friendly

NFC business cards spare your new contact from having to type your information in manually on a computer or smartphone. You merely need to hold up an NFC business card with your data to your counterpart. Your contact information can be readily stored in your counterpart’s address book by just holding the card up to an NFC-enabled smartphone. This has another significant benefit in addition to saving time: Your data, or rather, your business cards, are no longer lost.

In most cases, NFC business cards are constructed of PET or PVC. Compared to paper business cards, they are stronger and look more professional because of this. You may quickly and simply alter the data on the NFC chip thanks to the option of changing the online business card. For instance, the outdated paper business cards had to be thrown away and rearranged in the event that a job title changed, wasting valuable resources.
